A computer CPU is part of your laptop, desktop or tablet personal computer. It is even part of most cell phones such as a PDA. It is the part of your computer device that controls, operates and directs processing of information, data and instructions. Any instruction whether built into the personal computer or as part of the operating system or an application that is running, is ultimately directed by the central processing unit.
The CPU or central processing unit started out being specially made for each computer and the purpose or application of that computer. They were larger in size than those in today’s computer devices but performed similar functions that directed the operations of instructions provided by an application, operating system or set up predefined processes. The CPU chip was redesigned to not only work in large mainframe computers but also for desktop type computers.
As computers started to gain in popularity in the business world the need for a standard way to develop a computer CPU was needed in order to produce these devices in larger quantities. There was also a need to downsize the physical size and the time it took to design these chips. With the wide spread use of computers in the business world, people’s lives and jobs began to change and focus on a data centric existence versus a task motivated environment. The computers took over the routine tasks leaving people to focus more on the information.
Computer then began to provide …Read More
